The Pop up layout

A small floating video in a corner of the page: when it appears, how it looks, and how it behaves once closed.

A Pop up widget is a small video that appears in a corner of the page a few seconds after it loads. It plays silently on a loop. Tapping it opens the player with all the widget's clips, and shoppers can close it with ×.

Set it up

Click Widgets, then Add widget. Set Layout to Pop up and add your clips. See Choose clips.

On the Pop up tab, set When it appears and How it looks (below).

On the Player tab, choose the Corner (pop up and player).

Click Save, then add the widget's block to your theme. To show the pop up on every page, add the block to an area that appears on every page, such as the footer. See Showing a widget on every page.

The pop up floats over the page, whichever part of the page its block is in.

When it appears

SettingOptionsDefault
WaitSeconds after the page loads, 0–60.5
After it is closedUntil the shopper leaves — back on their next visit: stays closed in that browser tab. A new tab or a new visit shows it again. Never again once closed: stays closed in that browser for good. On every page load: comes back on every page.Until the shopper leaves

Opening the video doesn't count as closing it. The bubble hides while the player is open and comes back when the shopper closes the player.

How it looks

SettingOptionsDefault
ShapeBubble (a circle) or Card (a tall 9:16 rounded rectangle)Bubble
SizeSmall (100 px), Medium (150 px), Large (200 px). For a Card, this is its width.Medium
CornersCard only: Square corners, Slightly rounded, Rounded, Very roundedVery rounded

On phones the pop up is never wider than 110 px, so Medium and Large look the same there.

The play badge colours are on the Colors tab. See Colors.

Which clip it plays

The bubble plays the first clip in Heading and clips → Play in this order. With Manual, that's the first clip on the Media tab. With Shuffle on every visit, it's a random clip on every page load. A clip that's Draft in your library is skipped.

When shoppers tap it

Tapping the pop up opens the player on the widget's first clip, with the rest of the widget's clips to swipe through. How it opens depends on Open in on the Player tab: the fullscreen viewer or a floating mini player. Pop up widgets don't offer Play inside the card. See Player.

Good to know

  • One pop up at a time. If a page has blocks for two pop up widgets, the one whose Wait ends first appears. The other only appears if its Wait ends after the shopper has closed the first.
  • The corner is shared with the mini player, the small floating player that appears when a shopper minimises a video. Both use the Corner on the Player tab.
  • Chat bubbles: many chat apps sit in the bottom right corner too. If yours does, choose another corner.
  • Pop ups have no heading. The Heading settings aren't available for this layout.
  • Placement still applies. A pop up only appears on the page types its placement allows.
  • The minimum still applies. A pop up stays hidden if the widget has fewer clips than Show only with at least, or than the shop-wide minimum. Draft clips don't count.
