Turn on the app embed
Switch on FOXR - Shoppable Video in your theme's App embeds. Widget blocks stay hidden until you do.
Your theme has an app embed called FOXR - Shoppable Video. It works like a main power switch: every widget you add with the UGC widget block stays hidden until the embed is on, even in the theme editor's preview.
The embed also brings your Settings to your storefront. Your product card, player, and button settings reach shoppers through it, and so does the shop button text in your shoppers' language, such as Add to cart and Sold out. The embed has no settings of its own. It's just on or off.
Shopify keeps app embeds off until you switch them on and save. The app can open the right screen for you, but only you can turn it on. You only need to do this once per theme.
Why do this before adding the block?
With the embed on, your widget shows up in the theme editor's preview as soon as you pick it. That makes the next step much easier to check.
Turn it on
In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes.
Next to your live theme, click Customize. The theme editor opens.
In the left sidebar, click the App embeds icon.
Find FOXR - Shoppable Video in the list and switch it on.
Click Save at the top right.
Shortcut from the app
Once your block is in place with a widget picked in it, step 3 of the Home Setup guide shows App embed off with a Turn on app embed button.
In the app, go to Home and open step 3 of the Setup guide.
Click Turn on app embed. The theme editor opens with FOXR - Shoppable Video already switched on.
Check that FOXR - Shoppable Video is on under App embeds, then click Save at the top right.
Go back to the app and click Recheck.
Check it worked
Home can only confirm the embed once a widget block is in your theme, so check after the next page. Then click Recheck in step 3 of the Setup guide: Live means the block and the embed are both done, and App embed off means the embed isn't on or wasn't saved.
Using embed code instead of the block? The snippet shows with the embed off, but a Product page widget, and the built-in translations of the shop text, need the embed on.
Changed themes?
The embed and your widget blocks are set separately for each theme. If you publish a different theme, turn FOXR - Shoppable Video on in that theme and add your UGC widget blocks again.
