Add your first videos
Put a few clips in your Video library and tag the product each one shows.
Widgets can only use clips from your Video library, so that's where you start. We'll upload a few clips from your computer, add them to the library, and tag a product on each one.
Already have videos in Shopify Files?
Skip step 1 and go straight to step 2. To bring in posts from social media, see Import from Instagram and TikTok.
1. Upload your clips
Click Video library in the app menu, then Add media. The Add media page opens.
Under Import from, click Upload. The page opens on Shopify Files, so you need to switch.
Drag up to 8 files onto Upload videos or images, or click it to choose them. You can upload MP4, MOV, JPG, PNG, or WebP files. Videos can be up to 250 MB and images up to 20 MB.
The upload starts straight away, with a progress line such as Uploading 2 of 3 to Shopify Files…. When it finishes, the page switches to the Shopify Files tab and shows Uploaded to Shopify Files.
If a file is the wrong type or too big, you'll see a banner saying which one, for example clip.avi must be MP4, MOV, JPG, PNG, or WebP. The other files still upload.
Uploading doesn't add them to the library yet
Uploaded files go into Shopify Files first. They join your library only when you add them in step 2.
2. Add them to your library
On the Shopify Files tab, wait until your videos stop showing Processing. The list doesn't refresh by itself, so click Search to check again. You can also type a filename in the search box first.
Click each file you want. Selected files show Selected, and a counter such as 3 of 25 selected shows how many you've picked. You can select up to 25 at a time. Use Clear selection to start over.
Click Add to library at the top right of the page. The button shows how many you've picked, for example Add 3 to library.
If you added one file, its video page opens so you can tag it right away. If you added several, you're back in the library with a Media added banner.
Files that are already in your library show Already added and can't be picked again. A file that's still processing can't be picked either. If you add one that wasn't ready, the banner tells you how many are still processing, so add them again in a moment.
New clips are named after their file and start as Active, with no product tagged.
3. Tag a product on each clip
This is what makes a video shoppable: when shoppers open the clip, they see the product and can add it to their cart from the video.
In Video library, click a clip to open it.
Under Call to action, set Link type to Product.
Click Add product and pick the product shown in the clip.
Click Save in the save bar at the top.
Go back to Video library and repeat for each clip. Tagged products appear on your storefront within a minute or two, including in widgets you've already saved.
Tag active products
Only products with the Active status in Shopify appear on your videos. A draft, archived, or unlisted product shows a warning badge next to its name and isn't shown to shoppers. The product should also be available on your Online Store sales channel.
To find clips you haven't tagged yet, open Video library and set the product filter to No product. Open each clip from that list: the arrows on a video page follow the whole library, not your filter.

Create your first widget: arrange your clips as stories, a carousel, a grid, a pop up, or a product page strip.
