Video library

Manage your library

Find, filter, and organise your clips, change their status in bulk, and delete what you don't need.

Where to find it: click Video library in the app menu. The page is titled Media.

The library holds every clip your widgets can use: videos and images you've uploaded, picked from Shopify Files, or imported from Instagram and TikTok. Widgets only use clips from here. The widget editor has no upload of its own.

Click Add media at the top right to add more. See Upload videos and Import from Instagram and TikTok.

The clip grid

Each card shows:

PartWhat it tells you
Checkbox (top left)Tick it to select the clip for a bulk action.
ThumbnailThe video's poster image, or the image itself. Click it to open the clip. A clip with no poster image shows No preview.
Source icon (top right)Where the clip came from. Hover over it to see Shopify Files, Instagram, or TikTok.
Play icon (bottom right)The clip is a video, not an image.
Product count (bottom left)How many products are tagged on it. 0 means it isn't shoppable yet.
Status badgeActive or Draft. See Status.

Cards don't show clip names. Use the search box to find a clip by name.

The grid shows 24 clips per page, newest first. Use the arrows at the bottom to move between pages. When there's more than one page, the page number is shown next to them, for example Page 2 of 4.

Above the grid, a line shows how many clips you've selected, for example 0 selected. Next to it, while no filters are on, is the total, for example 42 items. With filters on, you see Clear filters there instead.

Search, sort, and filter

  • Search matches clip names only, not captions or products. Type in the box that says Searching all media.
  • Sort (the sort icon next to the search box) opens a menu. Under Sort by, choose Last updated (the default), Name, Products, or Status. Under Order by, choose Newest / Z-A (the default) or Oldest / A-Z.
  • Filters are the four dropdowns under the search box:
FilterOptions
StatusAll statuses, Active, Draft
TypeAll types, Video, Image
SourceAll sources, Shopify Files, Upload, Instagram, TikTok
ProductAny product, Has product, No product

No product is the quickest way to find clips you still need to tag. Clear filters resets the search and every filter. If nothing matches, the page says No media matches these filters.

Clips you upload from your computer are listed under Shopify Files, not Upload, because you add them to the library from the Shopify Files tab. New clips are never listed under Upload.

Filters reset when you leave

Search, sort, and filters aren't remembered. They reset when you open a clip and come back.

Change clips in bulk

Tick the checkbox on each clip you want. The checkbox above the grid selects every clip on the current page.

Look at the count next to that checkbox, for example 5 selected. Three buttons appear beside it: Set active, Set draft, and Delete.

Click Set active or Set draft to change the status. A message at the bottom of the page confirms it, for example 3 videos set to draft.

Or click Delete. A box titled Delete selected media? opens. Click Delete in it to confirm, or Cancel to back out.

Selections carry across pages

Clips stay selected when you change page, search, or filter. The selected count includes clips you can't currently see. Check it before you click Delete.

Status: Active and Draft

Every clip is Active or Draft. New clips start as Active.

  • Active clips play in your widgets.
  • Draft clips stay in your library but are hidden from your widgets on the storefront.

Use Draft for clips you haven't approved yet, or want to pause for a while. Set the clip back to Active to bring it back.

When you change a clip's status, from the clip's page or in bulk, Foxr updates every widget that uses it. You don't need to save the widgets again. Give it a minute or two to reach your storefront.

Drafts and widget size

A draft clip stays in the widget's clip list, and Draft clips still show up in the widget editor when you pick clips. They're just not shown to shoppers. If drafts leave a widget with fewer clips than its minimum, the whole widget is hidden until you set a clip back to Active. The minimum is the widget's own Show only with at least number or Minimum media to display feed in Settings, whichever is higher.

Delete clips

Delete one clip from its own page with Delete, or several at once with the bulk Delete.

Deleting a clip:

  • Removes it from your library permanently. There's no undo.
  • Takes it out of every widget that uses it, so it stops appearing on your storefront. Foxr checks all your widgets.
  • Leaves the file in Shopify Files. You can add it to the library again later, but its tagged product and subtitles are gone.

After a bulk delete, a message tells you how many clips went and how many widgets changed, for example 3 deleted · removed from 2 widgets.

Check your widgets after deleting

A widget left with no clips disappears from your storefront and shows No media on the Widgets page. If you're running an A/B test and variant B loses its last clip, the test ends and variant A is kept.

Good to know

  • The library lists every clip you've added, however many you have.
  • Saving a change to a clip makes it the most recently updated, so it moves to the front of the Last updated order.
  • There are no per-clip stats on this page. See how each clip performs in a widget's analytics.
  • Clips are stored in your store as FOXR video entries. You can see them under Content → Metaobjects in your Shopify admin, but edit them only in the app.
  • If the page says Could not load your library, reload it. If it keeps happening, contact us.
