Shoppable Videos & UGC
Turn your product videos and customer content into shoppable stories, carousels, grids, pop ups, and product page videos.
Welcome to the Foxr - Shoppable Videos & UGC docs.
The app puts short videos on your storefront in the formats shoppers know from social media: your own clips, creator content, and customer UGC. Tag the product a video shows, and shoppers can add it to their cart right from the video.
How it works
Three pieces, set up in this order:
- Video library: every clip you want to use. Upload from your computer, add from Shopify Files, or import from Instagram and TikTok, then tag the product each clip shows.
- Widgets: a widget is one arrangement of clips on your storefront, such as a row of story circles, a carousel, or a grid. You choose its layout, its clips, and its look.
- Your theme: turn on the FOXR - Shoppable Video app embed, then add a UGC widget block wherever you want a widget to appear.
Quick start
Work down this list. Each step links to a page that walks you through it.
Install the app. Approve the permissions and take a look around the Home page.
Add your first videos. In Video library, click Add media, upload a few clips, and add them to your library.
Tag a product on each clip. Open a clip, choose Product under Call to action, and pick the product it shows.
Create your first widget. In Widgets, click Add widget, name it, choose your clips, and click Save.
Turn on the app embed. In the theme editor, switch on FOXR - Shoppable Video under App embeds. Required, or widgets stay hidden.
Add the widget to your theme. Click Add to theme on your widget, pick it in the UGC widget block, and click Save in the theme editor.
Check it's live. Open your storefront. In the app, go to Home and click Recheck in step 3 of the Setup guide. It shows Live when everything is in place. If not, see Widget not showing.
What's in the app
Everything lives in the app's menu in your Shopify admin, plus two pieces in your theme.
| Where | What it's for | Read more |
|---|---|---|
| Home | Your Setup guide, banners that flag problems, and a quick view of your widgets. | Install the app |
| Video library | Your clips. Upload, add from Shopify Files, import from Instagram and TikTok, tag products, add subtitles, and set clips to Active or Draft. | Manage your library |
| Widgets | Your widgets and how each one performs. Create, edit, run A/B tests, copy embed code, and delete. | Manage widgets |
| Analytics | Views, plays, product clicks, add-to-carts, orders, and revenue from your videos. | Analytics |
| Settings | Shop-wide settings for every widget: colours, product cards, the buy button, the player, video quality, search engine data, and the wording of the shop buttons in each language. | Settings |
| UGC widget block (in your theme) | Shows one widget wherever you put it. Add it in the theme editor. | Add the widget to your theme |
| FOXR - Shoppable Video app embed (in your theme) | The main switch that lets widget blocks show, and brings your Settings to the storefront. | Turn on the app embed |
Two more things work in the background. The FOXR attribution pixel is added for you and credits orders to the videos that led to them. And Sidekick, Shopify's AI assistant, can look up your clips and widgets and open them for editing. See Use Foxr with Sidekick.
Five layouts
| Layout | What shoppers see |
|---|---|
| Stories | A row of round thumbnails with a coloured ring, like stories on social media. |
| Carousel | A scrolling row of video cards with arrows. |
| Grid | Tiles in rows and columns, with an optional mosaic pattern. |
| Pop up | A small video bubble, or card, floating in a corner of the page. |
| Product page | A strip on product pages that shows the widget's clips tagged with the product being viewed. |
By default, tapping a clip opens the player: a swipeable viewer with the tagged product at the bottom. See Layouts.
