Manage widgets

The Widgets page: every widget with its layout, clips, and all-time performance, plus editing, analytics, A/B tests, and deleting.

Where to find it: click Widgets in the app menu.

If you don't have a widget yet, the page says Create your first widget and has an Add widget button.

The widgets table

Widgets are listed most recently updated first, 25 per page. When you have more than 25, page buttons appear under the table. There's no search box or filter on this page.

ColumnWhat it shows
WidgetThe first clip's thumbnail, the widget's name, and its placement underneath, such as Global / any page. A/B test badges show here too.
LayoutStories, Carousel, Grid, Pop up, or Product page.
MediaHow many clips it has. No media means it has none, so it isn't showing on your storefront.
ViewsPage loads on which the widget was shown. For a Pop up, that includes page loads where the bubble never appeared.
OrdersOrders that included a product bought through this widget.
CRConversion rate: orders ÷ views.
RevenueSales credited to this widget.
UpdatedThe date the widget last changed.

A dash (—) in every number means the widget hasn't been viewed or earned an order yet.

These numbers are all time

The Widgets page adds up everything since each widget was created. The Analytics page shows the last 30 days by default, so the two often differ. For definitions and date ranges, use Analytics.

Choose which numbers to show

Click Performance metrics above the table. The number in brackets is how many columns are on.

Tick the columns you want: Views, Orders, CR, and Revenue.

Your choice is remembered in this browser.

Updated changes by itself sometimes

The date also changes when the app updates a widget for you. That happens when:

  • You edit, delete, or change the status of a clip in the Video library, and something about the clip changed. Every widget that uses the clip is updated.
  • You change the search engine settings in Settings → AEO & GEO. Your widgets are updated to match.
  • You open the Widgets page and some older widgets still need updating. The app brings them up to date in the background, a few at a time.

Create a widget

Click Add widget at the top of the page. The widget editor opens full screen.

Fill in Widget name, pick a Layout, and add your clips. See Choose clips.

Click Save.

Edit a widget

Find the widget in the table.

Click its name or thumbnail, or the Edit (pencil) button on the right.

Change what you need and click Save. Your changes go live on your storefront. See Saving.

Actions

Each row has these buttons on the right:

ButtonWhat it does
Edit (pencil)Opens the widget editor. Clicking the name or thumbnail does the same.
View analytics (chart)Opens Analytics for this widget, including A/B test results and per-clip numbers.
End testOnly while the widget has an A/B test. Pick the version to keep. See A/B testing.
Delete (bin)Deletes the widget. See below.

There's no option to duplicate a widget. To make a similar one, create a new widget and pick the same clips.

There's no on/off switch for a widget either. To take one off your storefront for a while, hide or remove its block in the theme editor.

A/B test badges

BadgeMeaning
A/B test · 2 variantsA test is running, with how long it has run, such as · 3 days. Click the arrow to see each variant's numbers.
A/B test pausedThe widget has a variant B, but the test is switched off.
Past A/B testThe test has ended. Each variant's numbers from the test are kept.

A variant is marked Winning only when it's ahead by enough that it's unlikely to be chance, after at least 500 views each. See How the winner is decided.

Delete a widget

Click the Delete (bin) button on the widget's row.

Read the message, then confirm with Delete. You'll see a message such as "Summer UGC" deleted.

The widget's clips stay in your Video library and in Shopify Files.

Deleting also removes its history

Deleting a widget is permanent, and it also deletes the widget's analytics: its views, clicks, orders, and revenue disappear from every total, including past dates.

Remove its block from your theme

The theme block that showed the widget stays in your theme. Once the widget is gone, the block shows shoppers Select a widget in the theme editor to display shoppable videos. Open the theme editor and remove the block, or pick another widget in it.
