Troubleshooting

Button text is in the wrong language

The player and quick add panel show English, or the wording you set doesn't appear.

The player and the quick add panel have their own built-in text, such as Add to cart, Sold out, Quantity, and View full details. It follows the language the shopper's store is showing. See What shoppers see for the languages we translate.

Shoppers see English on a store in another language

Work through these in order.

1. Is the app embed on?

The built-in translations are loaded by the FOXR - Shoppable Video app embed. With it off, widgets from the UGC widget block don't show at all, but Pop ups and embed code placements do, and they show English text.

In the theme editor, click App embeds, switch on FOXR - Shoppable Video, and click Save. See Turn on the app embed. If you've switched to a new theme, turn it on there too.

2. Is the widget placed with embed code?

A widget placed with embed code can't read the built-in translations, so it shows English. You have two fixes:

  • Place the widget with the UGC widget block instead, if your theme allows it.
  • Write your own wording for each language. See Write your own button text below. Your own wording works with embed code too.

3. Do we translate that language?

We translate into Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian (Bokmål), Polish, Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal), Spanish, Swedish, and Turkish. Any other language shows English.

For any other language, write your own wording. See below.

4. Is the shopper seeing the language you think?

Shoppers see the language their storefront is showing, which their market and your language picker decide. To test it, switch language with your storefront's own language picker, then reload the page.

Write your own button text

You can reword three texts for each language your store sells in: Add to cart, Sold out, and View full details.

In the app, click Settings, then open Translation.

If you see Allow FOXR to read your store's languages, click Allow access and confirm in the window Shopify shows. The app only reads which languages are published.

Find the card for the language. Type your wording in the field you want to change, up to 40 characters. Leave a field blank to keep the built-in translation. The built-in wording shows in the field as a hint.

Click Save, then reload your storefront.

The wording I set doesn't show

  • Is the language listed? Cards appear for the languages your store has published. To add one, go to Settings → Languages in your Shopify admin, then come back to the app.
  • Did you save? Changes reach your storefront the next time a page loads.
  • Is it one of the three texts? Only Add to cart, Sold out, and View full details can be reworded. The rest, such as Quantity, and the — sold out note next to a variant, use the built-in text.
  • Is it the right language card? Each language has its own wording. The shopper sees the one for the language their storefront is showing.
  • Did you turn down the access request? The app can't list your languages until you allow it. Click Allow access in Settings → Translation at any time.

Captions, subtitles, and product names aren't translated

The built-in text is translated. Your own content isn't:

  • The widget heading, captions, and subtitles show as you wrote them, in one language.
  • Product titles on cards and chips are in your store's default language. The quick add panel can show your translated product and variant names.
